Georges Rouault in the Hermitage, Saint Petersburg

In 1929 Georges Henri Rouault (1871-1958) created the designs for Sergei Diaghilev's ballet The Prodigal Son. The music was composed by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography of the ballet by George Balanchine. Have a look at this very fascinating painting showing a highlight of expressionism / fauvism. The work is part of the collection of the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg. - VenusArt.Art, ONE with Art History
